Your
course
Changing
courses
Feel like everybody's
partying till dawn while you're sitting in digs feeling down?
Don't worry if you're not having "the best days of your life"
yet. Those initial 'settling in' blues can happen to anyone and often
it takes a little time to adjust, make friends and start having fun.
However, if you seriously believe it's your course or university that
is making you unhappy, don't be scared to admit it and set about doing
something about it.
Dealing
with tutors and a whole new learning curve
If you've just left 6th form, it's likely everybody there was still
'miss' or 'sir' and you still pulled a ghoul-like grimace whenever
the end-of-lunch bell rang. Fortunately, university life is a whole
new ball game and the relationship between you and your tutors infinitely
more adult and enjoyable. And just as the teacher / student partnership
is a world away from A Levels, so too is the learning curve you're
about to embark upon.
Lecture
& seminar etiquette
Okay, so we're not
saying turn up at these academic gatherings dressed in black and chanting
last week's notes but without sounding boring, save inconsiderate
and disrespectful behaviour for the bar!
